What is NRG Charts?

NRG Charts is a web application that helps Tesla owners visualize their charging history and energy usage patterns. By connecting to your Tesla account, we can show you detailed analytics about your charging sessions, energy costs, charging efficiency, and usage trends over time.

How does Tesla authentication work?

We use Tesla's official OAuth 2.0 authentication system through the Tesla Fleet API. When you click "Authenticate with Tesla," you'll be redirected to Tesla's secure login page. After you authorize our application, Tesla will provide us with secure access tokens that allow us to retrieve your charging data. We never see or store your Tesla username or password.

What data do you access?

We only request access to the following Tesla data:

  • Vehicle charging history and session data
  • Basic vehicle information (model, VIN)
  • Energy usage statistics
  • Your email address (for account identification)

We do not access vehicle location data, driving history, or any other personal information beyond what's necessary for charging analytics.

Is my data secure?

Yes, we take data security seriously. All communication with Tesla is encrypted using HTTPS. Your access tokens are stored securely and are only used to fetch the charging data you've authorized us to access. We follow industry best practices for data protection and never share your personal information with third parties.

How can I disconnect my Tesla account?

You can disconnect your Tesla account in two ways:

Option 1: From NRG Charts

Click the "Disconnect Tesla" button on your summary page to immediately revoke access and clear your session.

Option 2: From Tesla Account Settings

For complete removal of app authorization:

  1. Sign in to accounts.tesla.com
  2. Navigate to the Third Party Apps section
  3. Find "NRG Charts" in your connected apps
  4. Click "Manage" → "Remove Access"

When you disconnect through either method, we'll stop accessing your data and remove your stored access tokens.

What if I encounter issues?

If you experience any problems with authentication or data display, try refreshing the page or disconnecting and reconnecting your Tesla account. The service depends on Tesla's API availability, so temporary outages on Tesla's side may affect functionality.
